How to Care Outdoor Patio Furniture Wicker Teak Iron Victoria BC

Wrought Iron –   Maintain iron furniture as you would your car’s finish.  Wipe down the furniture frame occasionally with water mixed with a mild liquid detergent. (We suggest liquid car soap …  it is milder than liquid dish detergents).  Apply a coat of liquid wax at the start of each season. Please ask our salespeople about more difficult cleaning jobs. If you see any rust, get after it at once with a wire brush or steel wool and some touch-up paint (we stock most paints for the brands we carry). Spray WD-40 oil on any moving parts twice a season or as necessary.

Teak –  Maintaining teak furniture can take almost no effort. Left on its own, teak will weather attractively to silver hues of driftwood over the first few years, and remain that way for decades. If the weathered look is not for you, ask our knowledgeable staff to explain how to apply the proper cleaner and sealer to help your teak maintain its original appearance. Sealer will require annual applications to keep teak looking good. Do not use any type of oil if furniture is outside, as this may cause mildew and irregular coloring.

All Weather Wicker –  When used outdoors, wash down the furniture a few times during the season with water mixed with a mild liquid detergent. We suggest liquid car soap for all frames and woven areas, it is milder than liquid dish detergents. Please talk to our salespeople about more difficult cleaning jobs. During the winter, if left outdoors, cover the furniture with a breathable cover (available in-stock for most set sizes). If possible, you can use your resin wicker indoors during the winter months.

Aluminum – It is always best to apply a coat of liquid wax to the frames if you have time at the start of each season. Wipe down the furniture frame occasionally with water mixed with a mild liquid detergent. We suggest liquid car soap for all frames and glass tops, as it is milder than liquid dish detergents. Please talk to our salespeople about more difficult cleaning jobs. Nicks and scratches must be touched up promptly. We stock most touch-up paints for the brands we carry. Spray a light oil on swivel chair mechanisms and glides, twice a season or as necessary.
